Five Year Plan

PARI's program goals for the next five years are to maintain and expand all existing PARI-developed programs, but to grow "outside-initiated" programs to the point that they constitute more than three-fourths of the program activity at PARI.

Infrastructure goals include the establishment of a Science Education Center that will include a museum, student and PARI visitor housing, and support for general public tours. The Center will also allow us to further develop public outreach programs.

Beyond these tangible, tactical goals is an underlying need for PARI to significantly expand its funding resources. We have received a number of grants for specific programs and equipment, but the bulk of PARI's funding to date has come from contributions by private citizens. The monetary investment in PARI exceeds $10 million. The money has been used to restore the facility and instruments to operational use and to develop educational and research programs.

We are currently pursuing federal, state, university, foundation and private grants to upgrade equipment, add new resources and develop new programs.  If PARI is to survive and reach its full potential we must obtain significant grants for new equipment and new programs. We must solidify our relationship with area colleges and universities, thereby providing the means to guarantee PARI's availability to new generations of students. To ensure long-term viability, PARI needs to develop an endowment of at least $30 million.

To date, the investment in PARI has been tremendous. The progress has been remarkable. And the work has just begun.
