The program is part of PARI’s monthly Evening at PARI series and will feature a presentation by PARI astronomers Dr. Michael Castelaz and Dr. Bob Hayward.  They will look at the biblical Star of Bethlehem from an astronomical perspective.  Was it a supernova?  A comet?  A special arrangement of the planets?  Through the ages astronomers have teamed with historians and biblical scholars in searching for an astronomical explanation for the star the magi followed to Bethlehem so long ago.  The presentation will look at possible astronomical explanations and weigh the arguments for and against each.

The Evening at PARI program will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a site tour, followed by the presentation and observing session.  Each participant will also have the opportunity to have a photo taken with a PARI telescope and will receive a subscription to the PARI newsletter and a 10% discount on PARI merchandise.
