The 2009 Friends of PARI Annual Meeting and Symposium featured a presentation by Russ Campbell, Communications Officer for the Burroughs Wellcome Fund. Participants toured the PARI site and were treated to demonstrations of remote observing, presentations by Space Science Lab Scholars, tours of the Astronomical Photographic Data Archive, planetarum presentations and an awards program.

The 2008 Friends of PARI Annual Meeting and Symposium was held on Friday evening, September 12th. Distinguished Supporters were recognized. The Barry Lasker Scanning Laboratory in the Astronomical Photographic Data Archive (APDA) was dedicated. Ray Lucas from the Space Telescope Science Institute attended the dedication. Dr. Bob McMahan, Dean of the Kimmel School of Engineering at Western Carolina University, gave the keynote address. Representatives from Pleiades Consulting demonstrated PARI in the Second Life virtual world.

Friends of PARI Volunteers Help with Data Center Move April 12, 2008

A group of Friends of PARI volunteeers worked all day Saturday, April 12th with CIO Lamar Owen, Site Engineer Ben Goldsmith and Science Educator Christi Whitworth relocating the PARI Data Center. The new Center will have enhanced RF shielding and is laid out to take advantage of PARI's increased computing power and storage.

August 29, 2007 Friends of PARI Organizational Meeting

Friends of PARI President Dr. Joe Phillips held an organizational meeting at PARI on Wednesday, August 29th. Friends of PARI members discussed upcoming projects and activities and as well as volunteering opportunities.

Friends of PARI Construct a Galaxy Walk at PARI

Friends of PARI, led by Joe Phillips and Thurburn Barker, with assistance from PARI staff have begun construction of a scale model Galaxy Walk on the PARI campus.

Galaxy Walk at PARI Dedication

Photos taken at the October 17, 2007 ribbon cutting to dedicate the opening of the Galaxy Walk at PARI. This scale model display of the planets and other astronomical objects, that was designed and constructed by the Friends of PARI, is the newest public display feature at PARI.
