May 8, 2008 PARI Visit by NC Museum of Natural Sciences Scientists

A team of scientists from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh came to PARI on Thursday, May 8, 2008 to explore the flora, fauna, water, birds and other natural science elements on our site. The team included: Jesse Perry, Director of Public Programs; Mary Ann Brittain, Director of Prairie Ridge; Charles Yelton, Curator of Programs and Technology at Prairie Ridge; Melissa Dowland, Teacher Education Specialist; Art Bogan, Curator of Aquatic Invertebrates and John Connors, Coordinator of Naturalist Center.

Arden, NC Brownie Troop Visits PARI

A group of Brownies from Arden, NC visited PARI on Saturday, April 5, 2008.

Quarter Century Wireless Association Tours PARI

Members of the local Quarter Century Wireless Association (QCWA) toured PARI on April 10, 2008. Dr. Michael Castelaz had recently spoken at one of their meetings.

Evergreen Community Charter School at PARI on April 9, 2008

Students, teachers and parents from the Evergreen Community Charter School came to PARI to learn about astronomy from Science Educator Christi Whitworth.

April 27, 2007 NCTA Field Trip to PARI

NCTA staffers Jamai Blivin and Noah Garrett led a group of NCTA members on a field trip to PARI to hear about our programs. We were all honored by the attendance of US Senator Elizabeth Dole's Western Regional Representative Graham Fields, US Senator Richard Burr's Field Representative Steve Green and US Congressman Heath Shuler's District Systems Administrator Brian Hopkins.

During a site visit of PARI by NASA's Stephanie Brown-Houston and Dovie Lacy, the staff discussed the progress being made on the PARSEC NASA grant. UNC Asheville's Chuck Bennett, Brian Dennison and Steve Birkhofer also attended the site visit on Wednesday, May 2, 2007.

US Congressman Heath Shuler, 11th District North Carolina Visits PARI

US Congressman Heath Shuler along with Congressional Aide Randy Flack visited PARI on Wednesday, August 29th. Congressman Shuler met with members of the Friends of PARI and visitors who were at PARI for the weekly docent-led tour. Space Science Lab Scholars Nicole McGaha and Courtney Nicholson demonstrated their JOVE radio receivers for Congressman Shuler. Students Timothy Owen, William Partin and Rebekah Partin demonstrated other hands on activities at PARI
