PARI Staff Making Presentations

PARI Represented at North Carolina Museum of Natural Science Astronomy Days

Don and Jo Cline, Michael Castelaz, Beth Harris, Christi Whitworth, Dave Clavier and several Friends of PARI volunteers, including Liz Castelaz, Christine Operario and Chris Waldrup participated in the 2008 Astronomy Days on January 26-27, 2008 in Raleigh. Mike and Christi gave formal presentations. The major feature of PARI's participation was the remote access to Smiley by many young people. Ben Goldsmith, Chad McCall and Lamar Owen supported the teams efforts back at PARI. This was the largest Astronomy Days to date. Saturday, some 9,500 people attended the event.

PARI Science Educator Christi Whitworth and Space Science Lab Scholar Amanda Cook talked about the Burroughs Wellcome Fund sponsored Space Science Lab (SSL) program and demonstrated Amanda's JOVE radio receiver.

Drs. Bob Hayward and Michael Castelaz presented StarLab programs to kids and adults during the September 15, 2007 Kids Day at the Boys and Girls Club of Transylvania County.

16 teachers from Statesville to Morehead City joined us for the School of Galactic Radio Astronomy at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh on February 16, 2008.
