On Tuesday and Wednesday, September 28-29, 2009 PARI staff members, Thad McCall, Donnie Curto, Brad McCall and Ben Goldsmith did work on the 26M West antenna in preparation for remounting the feedbox.

PARI is located on 200 aces within three million acres of forest land and more specifically, within the Pisgah National Forest in Transylvania County, North Carolina. The beauty of the natural surroundings along with the astronomical and other research instruments provide a dramatic setting for the study of science. These photos have been taken at PARI during different seasons of the year. The two 26 Meter and one 4.6 Meter (Smiley) radio antenna are PARI's signature instruments.

After mounting the clamshell to the observatory structure, PARI staff prepares the pier for mounting the new 16 inch telescope scheduled to be delivered from DFM Engineering, Inc. in a few weeks.

Dedication of the Barrier Maintenance Building

Mrs. Ardelia Barrier was at PARI on Monday, October 9, 2006 for the dedication of the Barrier Maintenance Building. It was named in honor of Mrs. Barrier and her late husband, James, for their great support of PARI.

These images have not been digitally processed. The field of view is 29 arc minutes by 29 arc minutes. The exposure time was 60 seconds. These images show the great quality of the West Observatory's 0.4 meter DFM telescope and the Apogee camera.

Atmospheric Science Instruments Arrive at PARI

On Thursday, November 13, 2008, Dr. Russell Philbrick's atmospheric science measurement instruments arrived at PARI from Pennsylvania. Dr. Philbrick, who is moving from Penn State to NCSU to conduct his research is planning to use PARI as his primary site for measurement.
