September 30 - October 1, 2009 Furman Students at PARI

Furman University Professor, and PARI Research Associate, David Moffett and Furman's Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Associate Director, Mike Winiski, brought twelve students to PARI on Wednesday and Thursday, September 30 - October 1, 2009 as part of their first year seminar. The seminar, entitled "Mars on the Shoulder of Giants," exposes students to scientific inquiry. PARI is a perfect scientific laboratory for this type of course. They collected some exciting images using PARI's West Oberservory and Smiley.

Rosman Elementary 2nd grade classes come to PARI

Ms. Curto's, Ms. Goar's and Ms. Parker's second grade classes from Rosman Elementary visited PARI on Friday, April 27th to attend planetarium presentations and to learn about weather instruments. The classes were led by Dr. Bob Hayward and Science Educator Christi Whitworth.

Derrod Williams, a recent graudate of NC A&T State University, is the 2007 Joe & Karen Phillips summer intern. Derrod worked on the NC A&T Engineering School senior project at PARI this past year.

December 8, 2007 WCU - NC-MSEN Field Trip

Photos from the Saturday, December 8, 2007 field trip to PARI by the students from the North Carolina Math and Science Education Network Pre-College Program from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. Forty five students spent the day learning about radio astronomy, touring the facilites and building and launching rockets.

J. Donald Cline Astronomy Intern Justin Ritchie

William Justin Ritchie is the recipient of the J. Donald Cline Astronomy Scholarship through the North Carolina Space Grant. As part of his scholarship, Justin will be spending 10 weeks at PARI over each of the next two summers.
