- A secure area with controlled access
- Backup power for several days
- Several thousand square feet of floor space
- A solid foundation of several thousand square feet for plates
- High speed internet access
- Internet server and 120 TB of storage media
- A secure area with controlled access
- A clean, relative dust-free environment, with maintained selected humidity and temperature
- Protection from sunlight
- STScI Gamma I and Gamma II measuring machines
The main APDA Archive Room for the archive is shown below. Dehumidifiers in the room keep the humidity at 40%. The temperature is maintained at 18 C.

The APDA office as shown below is located directly adjacent to the APDA Archive Room. The office has a Internet, transmission scanner, computer, and 120 TB of computer storage space for future digitization. A light table is also avalaible for inspection of plates.

During the Summer 2008, NASA STScI donated Gamma I and Gamma II to APDA. Gamma II is shown below in a specially built dark room adjacent to the Archive Room. We intend to restore Gamma II to full operation and make it available to astronomers who need to use it. Future plans call for digitization of selective plates using Gamma II, eventually expanding to the entire collection.
