Astronomical Superstitions

Observations of the night sky, particularly rare events such as eclipses, conjunctions of planets, and comets, spawned many superstitions in cultures around the world. Join us as we review many of these superstitions and explore the real science behind these events with interactive demonstrations.

We will be making a realistic model of a comet with dry ice and modeling the phases of the moon while learning about the sometimes silly, sometimes deadly misconceptions people of many cultures have believed over the centuries.
