About the Learning Center

An experience that is out of this world!

Nestled in the mountains of the Pisgah National Forest at a former NASA facility, (The Learning Center) at PARI takes science and technology out of the classroom and into the realm of the imagination.

PARI provides an array of learning experiences in science and astronomy, utilizing both optical and radio telescopes (the same used by NASA). Our classes strive to engage learners of all ages in the exciting pursuit of science study, providing inspiration and education for the next generations of thinkers.
The Learning Center’s exhibit gallery showcases a spectacular collections of gems, minerals, rare meteorites, including from the Moon and Mars.  Recently acquired exhibits include a Redstone rocket engine, 1/3 scale Apollo 11 Lunar Module model, the ATS-6 satellite and models (on loan from the Smithsonian Institution) and more.
The pristine wilderness of the Pisgah National Forest provides exciting opportunity for outdoor adventure. A stay at PARI may include hiking, picnicking, visits to waterfalls, swimming, tubing, rock climbing, rappelling, activities with other local camps, special events, and entertainment by musicians or artist.
