When we have a question about what is going on in the night sky, Dr. Hayward is our guy!
Dr. Hayward received his B.S. and M.S. in Physics from the University of Florida. He also received an M.S. in Astronomy from the University of Arizona and a PhD. in Science Education from Georgia State University.
Dr. Hayward’s career has centered around teaching and education. For 30 years, Dr. Hayward served first as an astronomer and later an instructional administrator at the acclaimed Fernbank Science Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He was an adjunct professor at both Georgia State University and the University of Georgia. In 2001, Dr. Hayward joined the staff at Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute where he has served as a staff astronomer and educator.
Dr. Hayward also enjoyed a distinguished career in the US Army Reserves, serving on active duty with the Army Special Forces and, as a reservist, as an instructor in the Atlanta Army Reserve School and as an adjunct professor at the US Army Command and General Staff College. He retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
