Spend the weekend with PARI and immerse yourself in the wonder of space, science, and the natural beauty of the Pisgah Forest region.  We offer two kinds of weekend getaways that will inspire guests of all ages and interests.

Educational Weekend Science Camps

Educators and scout leaders are invited to supplement their STEM curriculum or fulfill badge requirements at PARI, where we provide a fast-paced, hands-on learning experience in the classroom and the untouched natural beauty of our surroundings.

  • Secret messages (Cryptography)
  • Meteorite identification
  • Radio Astronomy
  • 3D design and printing
  • Coding & computational thinking
  • Astrobiology
  • Space missions and scenarios
  • Space exploration merit badges
  • Forest and waterfall exploration
  • Microclimate/temperate rainforest investigation
  • Additional outdoor scouting badge activities
  • LODGING IS PROVIDED BY AGE AND GENDER WITH APPROPRIATE SUPERVISION.
  • MEALS AVAILABLE.
  • SPECIAL RATES AVAILABLE FOR ACCOMPANYING ADULTS ACTING AS CHAPERONES.

Astronomical Event Camps

Centered around an astronomical event such as a meteor shower, eclipse, visible planets or other celestial bodies, these promise to provide an exciting adventure exploring our universe for guests from K to Gray.

  • PROGRAMMING CAN INCLUDE SITE TOURS, RELEVANT EVENT TALKS AND A DEDICATED VIEWING PERIOD.
  • LODGING OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS.
  • MEALS AVAILABLE.
  • RAIN OR SHINE— ALTERNATE ACTIVITIES WILL BE OFFERED IN THE EVENT OF BAD VIEWING WEATHER.

Camp Refund Policy

No refunds will be given.

If a camper cannot attend due to a positive COVID19 test and/or is quarantining in accordance with current CDC recommendations, a credit, or transfer to a later camp, can be arranged.  Proof of a positive test administered by a medical professional will be required.

If a camper is unable to attend for any other reason we must receive notification at least 14 days prior to the start of their camp session. We will attempt to transfer to another session if capacity allows.  If this is not possible a credit to be used for a later camp will be issued.
